Care instructions for EH Virgin Remy hair

"Give your EH Virgin Remy hair as much care as your own hair" / Eliana Hunter®

Eliana Hunter’s® Virgin Remy hair is high quality, long lasting (about 1-5 years) and can be reused if you take good care of it. Virgin Remy hair needs just as much care as your natural hair, so it’s important to have a good hair routine to get the most out of your investment. The lifespan of your hair depends mainly on how you care for it. That’s why we’ve gathered below our most essential hair care tips on how to best care for your new hair to achieve a perfect & healthy head of hair throughout its use.

Recommendations before installation of Eliana Hunters Virgin Remy Hair

We recommend that you wash the hair with conditioner in lukewarm water before installation or other treatment. It is also known as a “co-wash” and is beneficial for moisturising and adding shine to the hair. Do the following: fill the sink with lukewarm water, distribute a generous amount of conditioner in the water, put the hair strand in the conditioner water for about 5-10 minutes, rinse and let it dry by itself.

Hair installation and styling

At Eliana Hunter® we recommend that the installation of your new hair is carried out by a person with good experience and knowledge of the chosen installation method. All hair, regardless of quality, sheds slightly during its lifetime, it’s perfectly natural. However, high-quality hair extensions (properly installed and treated) should not shed excessively. Eliana Hunter’s® Virgin Remy hair sheds minimally and very naturally if installed correctly. This way you always maintain full and beautiful volume. To ensure that your hair retains its beautiful fullness and volume, ask your hair installer/stylist to follow the advice and recommendations below.

To style your hair or restore its natural texture: after washing (while your hair is wet), or by spraying your hair (with water and conditioner), you can scrunch up your hair with your fingertips to bring out its natural texture or create a “wet look”.

Recommendations

Avoid excessive shampooing, which dries out and makes hair brittle. Use only shampoo to cleanse hair – no more than once/week to remove products, finish with conditioner to moisturise. When using the “sew-in” method, ensure that the sewing needle does not destroy the weft of the hair strand by forcing or pulling it too tight. Minimise the use of heat irons, with Eliana Hunters Virgin Remy Hair you can achieve your desired hairstyle and style without the use of heat tools. You can shape your hair with your hands while it’s wet or use various cold tools to achieve your desired style, as the hair is natural and manageable, it adapts quickly and holds up well to styling. Always brush your hair from the bottom and work your way up, we recommend using a wide-toothed comb to avoid tearing your hair. Always seal cut sections of the hair strand with needle and thread. If possible, avoid cutting the hair strand. Although all Eliana Hunter products are double- and machine-sewn and very durable, you should always avoid pulling your hair too much by wearing too tight hairstyles. This can cause the seams to stretch over time. Eliana Hunter’s hair looks best in its natural state. Therefore, you should not weigh your hair down with too many styling products.

Weekly maintenance

  • Always brush or comb through your hair before washing it. Always start by brushing or combing hair from the ends and work your way up towards the scalp. Remember never to pull your hair! For curly hair, we suggest using your fingers and a wide tooth comb to detangle and maintain the curls in your hair.
  • The hair should be shampooed in two rounds. Always finish with conditioner in the lengths and rinse with cold water to make the hair strands contract and become shiny. Feel free to use a hair mask once a week.
  • Never brush your hair when it’s wet, instead use a wide tooth comb to detangle your hair.
  • Never sleep with wet hair.
  • Always brush or comb through your hair before going to bed. Sleep with a braid to minimise wear. We recommend sleeping with a silk cap or silk ear muff to condition and protect your hair.
  • Always use heat protection before styling your hair.
  • Remember to use high quality hair care products and avoid alcohol-based hair care products as they can dry out your hair.

Laundry

Preferably shampoo & condition your hair once/week or once/every two weeks (depending on your needs). Avoid over-shampooing and preferably use shampoos free from sulphates, silicones, alcohol and parabens as they tend to dry out your hair. More desirable ingredients are natural oils, olive oil and argan oil. Shampoo gently from ends to roots. (Don’t massage the shampoo in too vigorously, instead work it into your hair gently with a wide-toothed comb or with your hands – from the bottom up). Rinse out the shampoo with cold water. In the same way, apply a good moisturizing conditioner to the hair – from the bottom up Rinse thoroughly and let it dry
